But please, don't get duped into wasting money on the many poorly written press release templates on the market today, templates included with standard word software programs, or expensive stand-alone packages.

Instead, I've created three templates that you can use to help you create the perfect release. Each one is customizable to your situation. You simply insert the appropriate information, perhaps get creative with a paragraph or two, and you have a release that you can be proud of.

NOTE: Before proceeding you may want to review the formatting suggestions, as well as the writing-a-press-release guidelines. These go hand in hand with my press release templates.

1. "Problem-Solving Tips" Press Release

Tips press releases can be used by editors as is, with very little editing and can result in lots of orders or inquiries. This type of press release can be used for years (if the information is timeless), as editors will save them for filler material when needed, or when the editorial calendar or current events raises the need for coverage of an issue.

2. "Benefits First" Press Release

Benefits (to the reader) are more important than "news" because the reader only buys the product or uses the service to gain the beneifts. So while the benefit first format and style are a bit unusual, when printed, it will definately increase response. But to entice editors to use your release, it must appear to be news of one kind or another.

3. "Human Interest" Press Release

Add color and life to your release by quoting a real person (you; the company president; the originator of the event, product or service; a satisfied customer; or someone who carries special weight with your target audience). Too many people send out press releases that are boring, as if they were writing a business letter or a scholarly article.
